Spanish Immersion

STUDY SPANISH IN MAZATLAN AT THE CANADIAN INSTITUTE OF MODERN LANGUAGES (CIML)

The Canadian Institute of Modern Languages (CIML) is two blocks from the beautiful Pacific Ocean. It is also within walking distance of the old colonial city of Mazatlan, and 5 minutes by taxi from the Golden Zone, where most of the nightlife is located. Our language institute provides current and prospective students with the opportunity to study Spanish, while fully experiencing Mexican culture and living. Our teachers are experienced and enthusiastic, native speakers; and our coordination team is always available to assist you.

Our intensive, multi-level Spanish program develops students’ skills in the four areas of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The program also covers a variety of topics related to Mexican and Hispanic customs and traditions, as well as arts and culture. Classes are offered in the mornings, allowing students to explore the city; practice their Spanish with the friendly local population; play aquatic sports or simply relax on the beach.

CIML also offers organized daytime excursions throughout the city, as well as evening events in the hub of the Mazatlan’s club scene.

I came to CIML with a foggy memory of how to conjugate verbs. After quickly assessing the skills I'd retained from my Spanish classes in high school, Marcela structured a wonderful program that focused on my weaknesses in oral comprehension and grammar. We had a wonderful time building my skills and, at the same time, she showed me a new world of music, art and culture in many of the Spanish-speaking nations. I can't wait to continue my studies with CIML, and in the meantime am working on many of Marcela's suggestions to improve.
